Academic Support & Overall Professional Development

  • Premedical Academic Conference (PMAC): Our conference brings physicians in for meaningful conversations about medicine and healthcare. Members can learn directly from their experiences, ask questions, and explore topics beyond the classroom. Last year’s conference included preventative care, giving members an opportunity to consider how physicians help patients protect their health and prevent disease.

  • Resource Drive: Our shared Resource Drive brings together pre-med materials, application guidance, useful links, and information about opportunities. Members can find resources such as an alumni-created medical school application timeline to help organize their next steps. Having these materials in one place makes it easier to find guidance and learn from the experiences of others.

  • Study Groups: Connect with fellow members taking similar courses to review challenging concepts, work through practice problems, and prepare for exams together. Study groups offer a space to ask questions, exchange study strategies, and stay motivated throughout the semester. You have a community of students who understand the demands of pre-med coursework and can learn alongside you.

  • Chicago Medical School Trek: This November, Phi Chi members will travel to Chicago for a multi-day trip featuring medical school tours and information sessions. The trek gives members a closer look at programs beyond Michigan, opportunities to build medical school connections, and a chance to learn more about admissions. Exploring schools firsthand helps members think about what they want from their medical education and future training.

MCAT and Medical School Resources

  • MSAR access: Phi Chi members receive free access to the Medical School Admission Requirements (MSAR) resource. Compare schools’ GPA and MCAT data, explore prerequisites, and learn about individual programs to build a school list that fits your goals—all without paying for your own subscription.

  • Discounted Kaplan MCAT courses: Members have access to discounted Kaplan preparation courses, making structured MCAT support more affordable. Whether you’re beginning to plan your studying or getting ready for test day, this benefit helps you access preparation at a reduced cost.

  • A shared collection of pre-med resources: Our Resources Master Doc brings opportunities, application guidance, and helpful links together in one place. It also includes an alumni-created medical school application timeline to help you understand what to prepare and when.

  • Connections to additional Michigan resources: We help members find campus resources, including CSG’s free MCAT workbook resource and Michigan’s medical school application resources and Canvas sites. These give you additional places to turn for study materials and application guidance.

Research Opportunities & Networking
